At Soluclean, we take feedback from our distributors and the cleaning professionals who use our products seriously. When issues arise in the field, we want to address them head-on, not only to help the individual teams experiencing them, but to share the learning with everyone.

Recently, we received feedback from one of our distributors reporting that our glass cleaner was leaving streaky marks on windows. We investigated, and the cause was clear: the product was being sprayed directly onto the glass surface.

The problem with spraying directly onto glass

Spraying a glass cleaner directly onto a window might seem like the most intuitive approach, but for this particular product, it’s the key reason streaks appear. When the solution hits a large flat surface directly, it spreads unevenly, dries at different rates, and leaves residue lines that are difficult to buff out. On larger panes, this effect is even more noticeable.

The correct method: Always spray our glass cleaner onto your cloth first, then use the cloth to clean the surface. This gives you consistent, controlled coverage and a streak-free result.

How to get the best results

  1. Prepare your cloth. Use a clean microfibre cloth. A dirty or damp cloth will transfer residue onto the glass regardless of the product used.
  2. Spray onto the cloth, not the glass. Apply 2–3 short sprays directly to the cloth until it is lightly dampened but not saturated.
  3. Clean in overlapping strokes. Work across the glass in consistent horizontal or vertical passes. Overlapping each stroke slightly ensures full coverage without doubling up on product.
  4. Buff dry with a second cloth. For a truly flawless finish, follow up with a dry microfibre cloth to remove any remaining moisture.
